November 2nd; 2nd Annual NYC Sustainable Farm to Restaurant Producer Summit

November 2, 2014 @ 10:00 am - 5:00 pm

$2.04 – $30.00

Local farmers, chefs, and distributors will convene at Hawthorne Valley Farm for the 2nd Annual Sustainable Farm to Restaurant Producer Summit to discuss challenges and celebrate successes of the current local food system.

The day will focus on ways stakeholders can come together to strengthen and expand the supply chain of organic and sustainably-grown food to New York City restaurants.

Through workshops, panel discussions, and structured networking attendees will have the opportunity to directly connect in an action oriented environment to address challenges in distribution, scalability, and communication. While last year?s Summit was focused mainly on understanding the local landscape (alternative distribution, Certified Organic vs. natural labeling, marketing ideas for independent restaurants), this year?s event is taking a closer look at the challenges of scalProducerSummit2014_600x600-01ability for both restaurants and growers.

Topics will include:
Using Technology to Manage Food Waste
Scalability in the Local Food Network
Developing Direct Distribution Channels
The Slow Food Producer Matrix: Leveraging the Slow Food Network
Transportation to and from the event from NYC, breakfast, lunch, and afternoon refreshment are included in the $30.00 admission price.
