VENDORS SOUGHT FOR FOLK FESTIVAL IN MALVERNE, SUNDAY, AUG. 16

First-Ever Crossroads Folk Festival at Crossroads Farm to be a Family Music Event

Southwest Nassau County will have its first-ever folk festival on Sunday, Aug. 16, when major names in the northeastern folk circuit will converge at Crossroads Farm in Malverne, on the grounds of the former Grossmann’s Farm where Hempstead and Ocean Avenues meet. The Farm Advisory Committee is soliciting food and craft vendors for the all-afternoon and evening event.

The Folk Festival is expected to be one of the largest of the summer.

Headlining the festival will be Long Island folk-Americana harmony trio Gathering Time, whose sound is best described as a co-ed Crosby, Stills and Nash with a bit of the Byrds and a jot of Joni Mitchell. Other Long Island performers of note include two-time Kerrville New Folk winner Josh Joffen, touring singer-songwriter Marci Geller, coffeehouse favorite Rorie Kelly, and Nancy Sirianni & Jack Hoffman of  the Scoldees. New Jersey folk stylists Mara Levine and the often hilarious Mike Agranoff will top off the list of feature acts. A number of smaller showcase artist slots will take place earlier in the day, and local favorite Al Murphy will start things off with a selection of acoustic favorites from the ‘60s and ‘70s.

Among the special events the farm has staged in the past have been grand opening celebrations, wine tasting, beer tasting, Oktoberfest, and Native American Day.
