Can a Gut Full of Microbes Help Your Mental State?

In a NY Times article today, it appears that the link between the microbial bacteria in your gut, can have enormous effects on your brain! Who would have thought! For years we have heard about the blood-brain barrier as a reason that so little progress has been made when it comes to mental health disorders, such as Alzheimers, dementia, autism and schizophrenia, but new studies are showing some promise. Check out the article “Beyond a Gut Feeling“, and keep eating those fermented foods that build up the healthy bacteria in your gut! And don’t take antibiotics unless you really need them!! They destroy your healthy bacteria, and add to the antibiotic resistant bacteria problem.
