Bhavani Shares Her Interview with Laura Shapiro, Author of “What She Ate”

Hi All,

What a fun interview I had yesterday! Laura Shapiro is the award winning author of the new book, What She Ate; Six Remarkable Women and the Food That Tells Their Stories, and she is the perfect person to be telling those stories. Laura started her journalism career writing about the Women’s Movement back in the 1970’s, and quickly realized that the women’s movement started way before the 70’s, and that a common thread was food. Food is a common thread for everyone, but Laura was in the juxtaposition to see how eating and food was so intertwined in the lives of these famous women of their time. It is a fascinating book and a sneak peak into the lives of Eleanor Roosevelt, Helen Gurley Brown, Eva Braun (Hitler’s mistress), Barbara Pym, Dorothy Woodsworth, and Rosa Lewis. If you missed our interview, you can listen to it here, and if you want to purchase the book, you can order it from her website
