An Interview with Michael Dimin, Founder of Sea to Table

Hello Everybody,

I’d like to start off by wishing everyone a happy and healthy Passover or Easter, depending on which holiday you choose to celebrate, and if you don’t celebrate P1040998 (800x601)either, may the season of Spring bring you joy and new beginnings! Last night I hosted our annual Passover Sedar, complete with 4 different soup options! I had the Organic Chicken Soup with Matzo Balls, as well as the Gluten free Matzo Ball variety, and for the vegetarians, I had a delicious Miso Vegetable Soup with Matzo Balls, also available with the Gluten Free Matzo Balls. The only combo which I failed to satisfy, was the Vegan-Gluten Free option. It turns out the the Gluten Free Matzo Meal has egg whites in it, so it is not Vegan! If anyone knows of a Vegan Gluten Free Matzo Meal, please let me know, or if you’re looking for a new niche business, this might be the perfect opportunity, Gluten Free, Vegan Matzo Meal!

So I want to share with all of you, that I have been having great success with my wheatgrass growing. I have gotten into a rhythm, where I start a new flat every 2-3 days. By the time the wheatgrass seeds have soaked and been rinsed for 36 hours, I have harvested my day-7 flat of wheatgrass, and can reuse the flat for the new seeds. At any given moment, I have seeds soaking, and 2 flats at different stages growing by my kitchen window. It has been a wonderful dance that has inspired me to juice more and eat more sprouts! I’m loving it!

On another note, you will see that I am asking all of you to take action, and divest any stocks or mutual funds you have invested in Monsanto, and switch to investing in companies that are supporting renewable energies and environmental stewardship. While your at it, please divest in any fossil fuel companies, and ask you college and any institutions that you are affiliated with to do the same. I know it is not easy to find mutual funds dedicated to socially responsible investing, so I wanted to invite any of you interested in learning about more Socially Responsible Investing to join me for a Farm to Table Dinner on May 14th, in Llyod Harbor, where my broker, Mary Jo, will present to all of us present, options for Socially Responsible Investing. For more infomation on the dinner, please send me an email at Bhavani@iEatGreen.com

This week, my guest on the Progressive Radio Network is Michael Dimin, one of the founders of Sea to Table, an organization that is creating a direct link from the fisherman to the chef. When I first heard about Sea to Table, I knew I 230305_145593452180493_3224852_nwanted to invite them on my show, because I loved what they were doing. They were creating markets for fisherman, who otherwise didn’t have a place to sell their catch, while at the same time, getting the freshest, line caught fish into the marketplace. The new model they have created allows chefs to purchase directly from local fisherman, through an online program, where everything is transparent. You know what fish is locally available at each dock, and when it was caught, and by whom. You then select what fish you want, and Sea to Table will overnight the fish right to your door. It is a win-win proposition for everyone. Please join me this Thursday, at 10am, to learn more about Michael Dimin and his company Sea to Table.
