An Interview with Marion Nestle, Author of “Food Politics”

Hi Everyone,

I hope you all had a wonderful fourth of July weekend. Summer is really underway with the heatwave we had this weekend. I hope you all managed to keep cool! I spent a good part of the weekend at two different farmer’s markets. Saturday, I was at the Port Washington Farmer’s Market (which, by the way, is the only all organic farmer’s market on Long Island), talking to shoppers about the Slow Food movement. On Sunday, I helped to celebrate the grand opening of the Roosevelt Youth Farmer’s Market with a beautiful cooking demo. We made Vegetable Jambalaya, Vegetable Fried Rice, Raw Kale Salad with Fresh Beets, Arugula Salad, and Japanese Stir-Fry with Rice Noodles. Throughout the summer, I will be doing many of these cooking demos at farmer’s markets in our local area.

Tonight, I hope you can join us at the Huntington Cinema Arts Centre for the screening of Slow Food Junkies and tomorrow night for a potluck Slow Food Huntington open board meeting. Please come down and show your support, and take Slow Food Huntington to the next level.

This week, my guest on The Progressive Radio Network is Marion Nestle, professor in the Department of Nutrition, Food Studies, and Public Health at New York University, as well as the author of several books including, Food Politics, Safe Food, What to Eat, and Pet Food Politics. Marion’s extensive knowledge on food politics will certainly lead to an interesting and informative interview. Tune in!
