An Interview with Jared Koch, Founder of Clean Plates

Hi Everybody,

I hope you all had a chance to hear President Obama’s Inaugural Speech yesterday. If you missed it, it’s worth listening to. In his speech, he addressed Climate Change, more than any other topic, and renewed his commitment, on behalf of our children and future generations, to do something Demonstrators stage a White House sit-in protest in August calling on the president to block construction of an oil pipeline.about it. It was a very moving speech. He also spoke of the foundation of our country, being built on equality for all, but acknowledged that equality has never really happened. He kept referring to “We, the People” as a way to emphasize that in order for any of his dreams to become real, we all need to be a part of it. We need to stand behind him and show our support as he pushes for equality in gay marriage, fair minimum pay for workers,  new immigration laws, environmental protection laws, and same pay for equal jobs.  With the bi-partisan environment in Washington, it will take people in the streets, and political involvement by all, to make these changes possible. Are you up for the task? You can start by joining me on February 17th for the rally in Washington to protest the Keystone Pipeline. Let me know if you can go. If we have enough people, maybe we can rent a bus!

My guest this week is Jared Koch, a health coach and nutritional consultant, who is returning to my show with his new book, The Clean Plate Cookbook. I first met Jared, two years ago, when he came out with his first book, Clean Plates, which is a guide to eating healthy within New York City. Since then, he published a guide to Brooklyn and LA, and now has a cookbook which he co-wrote with Jill Silverman Hough. This book is more than just a cookbook, it is a guide to clean eating, whether you are an omnivore, vegetarian, vegan or gluten free. Join me, as I discuss with Jared, his food philosophy and the principles that guide him.
