An Interview with Dr. Richard Oppenlander, Author of “Food Choice and Sustainability”

Hi All,

This past weekend I had the pleasure of visiting the Hippocrates Health Institute in Florida, and attending a sprouting workshop. I was so impressed. The gentleman IMG_1012that is in charge of growing all of the sprouts for the institute was the instructor, and he was methodical, organized, and had it down to a science. I learned so much, and am now inspired to start sprouting in my kitchen! The Hippocrates Health Institute is a non-profit, retreat center, founded on the belief that a vegan, living, enzyme-rich diet ? complemented by exercise, positive IMG_1011thinking and non-invasive therapies ? is integral to optimum health. As Hippocrates said, ?Let food be thy medicine and medicine be thy food.? The Institute is an inspiring place, and a place where one can kick start a path to wellness. Our lunch was all raw, consisting mostly of sprouts, and you could feel the energy and life force in everything that we ate! It is a great idea to incorporate more sprouts and raw foods into our diets, so that we can maintain our health, and nourish our bodies.

Also, don’t forget to buy your tickets to Slow Food Huntington’s, “Film Feast in Five Courses,”? which is taking place this Sunday at 6:30pm, at the Cinema Arts Centre in Huntington. Click here for more information.

This week, I have invited back, Dr. Richard Oppenlander, author of the award winning book, Comfortably Unaware, to talk about his new book, Food Choice and richard_oppenlanderSustainability: Why buying local, Eating Less Meat, and Baby Steps, Won’t Work. In his new book, Dr. Oppenlander outlines the devastation that animal and dairy production is having on our planet, and shows us how a plant based diet can change that, and help save our planet, and our health at the same time. Please join me for what promises to be a thought provoking discussion and conversation.
