CORRECTION: An Interview with Casey Barber: Cookbook Author and Food Writer and the Days After the Climate March!

Hi Everybody,

Only 3 days out from the world’s largest climate march in the history of the world, and already, we are able to feel the repercussions that this amazing event has had. The Rockefeller Foundation has decided to divest in all fossil fuel companies and invest in green energy, and Mayor Bill de Blasio announced a plan for NYC to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 80% by 2050! And this is just the beginning. As the 2014 UN Climate Summit takes hold this week, we are looking to our world leaders to make climate change a top priority.? I marched in the Food Justice Contingency, which reminded us that not only do we help reduce greenhouse gas emissions by cutting back on our meat intake and choosing a vegan diet, but we become part of the solution by supporting a sustainable food system that helps to pull carbon from the air and put it back into the soil where it belongs. This is one of the many solutions that we are trying to emphasize through a demonstration like the People’s Climate March! I came away feeling enlivened, and hopeful for our future. One of the highlights of our contingency, was the presentation by poet/rapper, Professor Louie. Check out this video!
