2012 Goes to President Obama and Living Off the Grid

OMG! That was a little too close for comfort, but I am so happy to report the great news! President Obama will return to Washington for 4 more years!!!

I may not have electricity, but I still have potatoes!

This week, many of us in the northeast had a forced opportunity to experience living off the grid. I missed the first few days, having been stuck in Italy, but coming home to a dark, cold house gave me the sense of how dependent we are on the grid! I must confess, that I enjoyed watching people think about their gas milage, and make decisions not to waste gas. Of course, the long gas lines were an incentive, but as an exercise in consumption reduction, I think it was an eye opener!

Unfortunately, the Progressive Radio Network still does not have power, so I will have to reschedule my interview with Leah Retherford from the Queens County Farm Museum. My interview last week with Jeffrey Smith was also cancelled, due to Hurricane Sandy, but by the end of tonight, we will know whether Proposition 37 was passed, requiring the mandatory labeling of GMO foods! Fingers crossed!

I hope you are all recovering from Hurricane Sandy, and are bracing yourselves for tomorrow’s storm. May you all stay safe, and may you all continue to see the blessings and miracles in our everyday lives!
